Nepal Trekking Equipments & Packing List

Trekking equipment is very important and compulsory for all Nepal adventure trekking, before departure to all kind Nepal trek from Kathmandu. It is advised that we consider the following equipment as requisites.

Nepal Spirit Adventure will provide you with a comprehensive list of the required trekking equipment for your chosen trek, as well as clothing you need to bring to cater for both the warmth of the days and the chill of the nights. While trekking during the day at lower altitudes, lightweight trekking trousers and T-shirts are recommended, it's always a good idea to carry a waterproof jacket and some dry warmer clothing with you as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. For the cold nights, thermal underwear, a warm fleece jacket and even a down jacket will help to keep you warm.

Adjustments to the list can be managed according to our requirement. We can find variety of these gears to hire or buy in Kathmandu. Majority of the gears which are in sale in Kathmandu are locally manufactured or imported from China. Very high quality branded gears can also be bought in some famous stores in Kathmandu.

Nepal Spirit Adventure recommends the following trekking equipment, cross check this list when you are packing.

Head:
- Sun hat or scarf
- Light balaclava or warm fleece hat
- Sunglasses with UV protection

Upper Body:
- T-shirts
- Light and expedition weight thermal tops
- Fleece jacket or pullover
- Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (optional)
- Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket
- Down vest orjacket

Lower Body:
- Under Garments
- Hiking shorts
- Lightweight cotton long pants
- Light and expedition weight thermal bottoms
- Fleece or wool pants (seasonal)
- Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants

Feet:
- Thin, lightweight inner socks
- Thick, warm wool hiking socks
- Hiking boots with spare laces
- Camp shoes (sneakers and/or sandals) Gaiters for hiking in winter to the base camp

Hands:
- Lightweight gloves
- Heavyweight gloves or mittens with a waterproof shell outer (seasonal)

Accessories:
- Sleeping bag rated to zero DC *
- Headlamp (e.g. Petzl Zoom) with spare bulbs and batteries
- Trekking Bags/Duffel bag *
- Basic First Aid Kit
- Large plastic bags - for keeping items dry inside trek bag
- Daypack (approximately 2500 to 3000 cubic inches)
- Trekking Poles
- Water bottle (2) or camel bag
- Toiletries (Small wash towel, Toilet papers etc)
- Ear Plug (who know some people on group are snoring)
- Personal First aid kit
- Lip guard
- Passport copies
- Pocket knives
- Flash light

Toiletries:
- 1 medium sized quick drying towel
- Tooth brush/paste (preferably biodegradable)
- Multipurpose soap (preferably biodegradable)
- Deodorants
- Nail clippers
- Face and body moisturizer
- Feminine hygiene products
- Small mirror

Personal Hygiene:
- Wet wipes (baby wipes)
- Tissue /toilet rol
- Anti bacterial hands wash

Extras | Luxuries:
- Binoculars
- Reading book
- Trail Map/guide book
- Journal & Pen
- Walkman
- Pencils and small notebooks
- Travel game i.e. chess, backgammon, scrabble
- Swimming customs

What you carry for the trek:
Please, bring the equipment listed above and pack your gear for the trek into a duffel bag or rucksacks, and small day bag for you. The larger bag with your kit will be carried by the porter to meet you each evening. You should bring a day pack to carry by yourself for water, rain jacket, hat gloves, camera money etc. The weather in mountain is changeable so you will need some warm clothes with you on your day pack.
