Chulu East Peak Climbing is under-taken after much preparation with acclimatization and practices before the ascent of Chulu East Peak stands proudly at 6,584 meter high, standing high above beautiful Manang valley close to Damordar Himal, and other Chulu’s peaks.

Nepal Spirit Adventure provides excellent climbing guides and other teams of expert staff to support this adventurous Chulu East Peak Climbing. Chulu East Peak Climbing grade as PD + (taken from French / Swiss Alpine Climbing System) which means a ‘Per Difficult’ walking on rocks and glaciers with technical difficulties in some sections of the climb.

This grading system popular world-wide among alpine peak climbers, so most of the smaller trekking peaks in Nepal Himalaya used as per this system on alpine or trekking peak climb.

Chulu East Peak Climb adventure begins with an interesting and exciting overland drive to reach Lamjung district at Beshisar town and beyond to Syange village located by the raging Marshyangdi River a glacial-fed river from the glaciers of Northern Annapurna-Gangapurna Himal and as well from Chulu’s peaks.

The walk leads through lovely villages of Dharapani-Chame town to Pisang and Hongde villages of rich Buddhist culture surrounded by high Mid West Himalayan Mountains. Our adventure continues to complete wilderness leading higher above Manang valley for the climb of Chulu East.

With the strong support of Nepal Spirit Adventure expert guides reaching the summit with overwhelming experience and feeling in high spirit, our adventure leads back on the main popular Annapurna circuit route to Manang village and beyond to cross high Thorang-la pass at 5,416 m.

From here downhill to Mustang area at holy Muktinath area and to Jomsom town for a scenic flight to scenic Pokhara city a famous and popular touristic spot in all Himalaya region, finally concluding this marvelous and remarkable Chulu East Peak Trek & Climb back in Kathmandu.

On arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuwan international airport received by Nepal Spirit airport representative with a transfer to respective hotels downtown in the hub of Kathmandu city, free time for lookup old Kathmandu market it is all on depending on your flight arrival hours overnight in Kathmandu.

In Kathmandu free day for individual activities and trek climbing preparations, on this day once can book for a half-day sightseeing tour at places of interest around Kathmandu-Patan or Bhaktapur cities, afternoon we brief Chulu east climbing and look up your climbing and trekking equipment as well as introduction with trek Sardar climbing guide overnight in Kathmandu.

Starting this wonderful adventure with an interesting overland drive towards Nepal mid west, leading to Beshishar town (headquarter of Lamjung district). From here transfer to another vehicle and continue to drive on dirt road passing villages of Khudi, Bhulbhule, and Ngadi following the Marsyangdi River upstream. Drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange a small village for an overnight stop in the comfort of a nice lodge.

From Syange our walk begins with climb leaving Marshyangdi River behind reaching Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers. After Jagat walk leads on a winding path to Chamje, and back at Marysangdi River crossing to east side into a forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. As the walk continues reaching a nice village at Tal Besi, from here another 3 hours walk leads to our overnight stop at Dharapani village. Dharapani a nice village located on a junction of the Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

After Dharapani walk leads into rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagachap and Danque, then at Timang village with more Buddhist cultured village including views of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft. From Timang village a few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for an overnight stop, Chame a large major town of Manang area and a headquarter town of the district.

From Pisang onwards walk leads close to mountains through alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through alpine woodland to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulu’s and Pisang peak, with a possible lunch stop, and then descends to lower Pisang village for an overnight stop.

Today a short walk of few hours to Hongde an important village of Manang with only airstrip with frequent flight to and from Pokhara, walk leads into a wooded areas of tall pine and rhododendron trees and then an hour or less climb to the ridge top, with views of Manang valley and snowcapped peaks of Pisang – Chulu’s Mid and East peaks with Annapurna II - A-IV, Gangapurna including Tilicho peak. From this scenic spot a short downhill to reach the valley at Hongde, with free afternoon for rest and climbing practice around nearest rocky hills.

From Hongde village, leaving the main Annapurna circuit route behind and trekking with a steep climb above Marshyangdi River, along the way impressive views of landscapes with a range of snow peaks, the walk continues on the higher trail to reach high Nagawal village located around North West with arid dry terrain. Overnight in a lodge, this will be last overnight in a lodge before camping for a few days during the climb of Chulu East Peak.

After a refreshing time at Ngawal village, morning leads to perfect wilderness region of arid and dry terrain with great views of Chulu’s and Annapurna range of mountains, and then a climb with few gradual areas on route, this picturesque valley runs high towards the ridge of Chulu East and Far East Peaks, after a strenuous high altitude walk reaching a rocky moraines beneath the ridge to camp for overnight, this perfect spot will be the base camp and starting point to Chulu East Peak climb.

It is always best to add more camp to assist the climb much shorter and energy-wise, after packing necessary gear just for the climb to the summit, leaving rest of the gear at base camp to make it light climb beyond to High Camp, which will be the highest overnight camp of this adventure. On reaching High / Advance Camp set tents where possible finding near level ground on these rocks and moraine area. Afternoon our guide and leaders will scout the area of a climbing route for next day early climb to the summit of Chulu East the highest of all Nepal trekking peaks.

The highlight and aim of this great adventure starting very early before dawn and then climbing on snow slopes can be quite steep with technical section in few sections to reach the summit of Chulu East; our guide will set the route where necessary area with ropes fixed for safety and access of this great climb to the summit top, after the final ascent to the summit top, with great spirit and feeling high, marvel the surrounding overwhelming views and descend back to base camp.

Nepal Spirit Adventure reserves an extra day as a contingency in case of bad weather conditions which can occur sometimes, as the Himalayan weather pattern can be unpredictable so an extra day will make it safe to adjust the itinerary days for a successful climb. If all goes well as per the planned itinerary days we can use this extra day in Manang village or on the way back to Jomsom making a short day walk while enjoying the great scenery along the way.

After a successful climb of Chulu East Peak retrace the journey back on the main Annapurna circuit trail, walk along the bank of Marshyangdi River passing Braga village to reach the upper Manang village. At this village visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting, and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches Manang village. Manang a large prosperous village, houses are built up in traditional Tibetans style with rich culture and traditional lifestyle.

After a good rest at Manang, walk towards Ghunsang village with short uphill to reach at Yak Kharka, an interesting walk with views of snowcapped mountains, on crossing a small stream reaching Yak Kharka for an overnight stop, a small settlement with views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Morning walk leads to more high elevation getting closer at the base of Thorang-la after crossing a bridge with a climb along the riverbank of Jarjung, finally walk leads at Thorung Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients, if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for an overnight stop.

One of the highlight and Big Day of this adventure! After early breakfast walk leads to a long climb to Thorang-la on a steep winding path to reach Thorung La Pass at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft. The highest point of the adventure with views of snowcapped peaks, and then with long descends to reach holy Muktinath around Lower Mustang area. On reaching Muktinath for an overnight stop, this is a holy spot for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation'.

After Muktinath, a walk is much easier on moderate trails with big drop downhill to Kaligandaki river valley on the flat river bed of Kaligandaki to reach famous Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang district with a small airstrip above Kaligandkai River. At Jomsom check into a nice lovely lodge for the last overnight stop of this adventure, and celebrate last night dinner among crews and other members. This area from Jomsom-Kagbeni to Marpha famous for apples and its products like juice-cider and potent brandy. Around this area also popularly called Apple Pie Trail.

Early breakfast then transfer to Jomsom airport for scenic short flight of 25 minutes to Pokhara, during airborne awesome views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna range of mountains with rolling hills and villages, On reaching Pokhara airport transfer to respective hotels by the lake Phewa, afternoon free for individual activities or just relax and enjoy the views of the Annapurna Himalaya.

Useful Information

Nepal Visa & Cost

All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Nepalese visas can be obtained from the Nepalese Embassy or consulate in your home country or it can also be obtained at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu upon your arrival. Most of our guests take Nepal Visa after they arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal. Immigration Office, TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport) under the Department of Immigration has been facilitating tourists flying to Nepal by providing Visa on Arrival. 'On Arrival' visa procedure is very quick and simple. You can expect some queues during peak Tourist season. If you wish to skip those queues, you can also consider getting Visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions stationed abroad prior to your arrival. The choice is yours.

If you have obtained a visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions, then you must enter Nepal within six months from the visa issued date. Your total stay is counted starting from the day you enter into Nepal.

Visas obtained on Arrival at the Entry and Exit points are 'Tourist Visas'. They bear multiple Re entry facility. Tourist Visa 'On Arrival' is the only entry visa to Nepal. If you are visiting Nepal for the purposes other than Tourism (sightseeing, tour, travel, mountaineering, trekking, visiting friends and families), you should still get ' Tourist Visa' to get into the country. However, you must change the category of visa as per your purpose and length of stay in Nepal from the Department of Immigration by producing required documents. Nationals of designated countries are requested to acquire Visa prior to their arrival from their nearby Diplomatic missions (Embassies/consulates) of the Nepal Government.

Note: Please follow these simple procedures for Tourist Visa on Arrival at the airport (TIA) if you have not acquired Visa prior to boarding the plane.

1st Step: Fill in Online ‘Tourist Visa ‘form ( you can fill it up prior to your arrival visiting our official website Department of Immigration / fill it up using Kiosk machines upon your arrival at the airport). If you fill it from the website, you will get submission Receipt with barcode, please print it out and bring it along for acquiring a visa. It works for fifteen days and becomes invalid then after. If so, you will have to fill it up again.

2nd Step: Make payment at the bank according to your visa requirement ( 15/30/90 Days) Get the receipt. While you can use different modes of payments (at visa fees collection counter), we advise you to carry some cash to be on the safe side.

3rd Step: Proceed to the Immigration Desk with your online form, payment receipts, and your passport. Hand in your documents to the immigration officer for visa processing. He/she issues a visa to you upon his/her satisfaction.

Visa Extension Fee

Tourist visa extension is done for a minimum of 15 days with USD 45 and USD 3 per day for additional days. In the case of delay less than 150 days additional USD 5 per day as of late fine.

Upon Arrival In Nepal

On arrival in Nepal at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, our airport representative or staff will receive you as per your flight landing hours with your name on display board of Nepal Spirit Adventure then transfer to your respective hotels in Kathmandu. Afternoon or evening time we will review and discuss with much information regarding your trip itinerary and included/excluded services as per the trip itinerary is chosen, at the same time introduce your guide who will help you with the final preparation for your trek as well as you may have a question and answer about the trip.

Accommodation In Kathmandu

We provide 3*** stars tourist standard hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara on twin sharing basis with breakfast. If you are trekking in groups joining a basis, you will share a room with someone of the same gender from your group. If you prefer a single room supplement in Kathmandu and on-route trekking, you can request for the single supplement (which will be at extra cost beside trip price stated). Accommodation In Trek & Chulu East Peak Climbing

We provide accommodation in tea houses (mountain lodge). A Tea House is a combination of a guest house, restaurant, and social hang out. The rooms are with twin beds and little additional furniture like small tables or chairs. Blankets are generally provided (we recommend that you carry your own sleeping bags). Most bathrooms are common with squatting (Asian) toilets or of western comfort with sitting toilets. Most of the lodges have hot water for showers, but with extra charge in using hot showers. During the climbing period, we provide a quality tent with necessary sleeping equipment.

Trek & Climbing Food

As per your trek and climbing booing with us, full board meals are included (breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided). We provide food from these local lodge/tea houses as per choices on the menu. Breakfast and dinner provided at the same tea house/lodge while lunch would be on the trail. Every Tea House serves traditional Nepali meal Dal Bhat (rice and lentils), and as well a variety of different food items, such as rice, seasonable vegetables, noodles, potatoes, and soups. Some lodge serves western foods such as pizza, pasta, and French fries. Soft drinks, snacks, and beer are available in most of the Tea Houses restaurants. A variety of cereals, bread, and eggs dishes are generally available for breakfast as well as provided Nepali meals along with the climbing session.

Safe Drinking Water

Along the trek, safe drinking water is very important while we are on high altitude journey. We recommend that one should drink at least 3-4 liters water a day (this helps from de-hydration and altitude problem AMS). As long as possible we recommend you buy sealed packed mineral water and can buy from every local shop and lodges. Remember! River, spring and tap water are free, we should not recommend you directly drink it even water looks very clean, cannot drink with adding water purification pills or filter then will be suitable to drink. You can buy also boiled water from every lodge. Boiled water and sealed packed water cost $1-2$ dollars per letters and its cost also depends on where we are from the sea level. So, you need to prepare and packed the extra cost for all the table drinks.

Health and Fitness Required

Health and physical fitness is the most important part of travel and in participating for trek and hiking. If you do not have previous trekking experience as required, you can start with morning walking exercise or cycling for weeks or month before/after booking the trip with us, if you have previous trekking and climbing experience it will add a plus point on the trek chosen, most of the trek is non-technical effort walks. The highest height gain on this trip is at 5,360m is Gokyo Ri Top above sea level. The walk involves lots of ups and down, walking through local villages, farmlands, terraces, and riverside as long as you have energy walking for 4- 6 hours a day, and if you are qualified for the trek but still requires moderate health and fitness. We strongly advise travelers to consult your medical doctor before traveling and do a regular check-up and hand the report to us while booking a trip with us.

Nepal is a mountainous country walk takes you to a remote region, it is necessary that you are accompanied by an experienced and qualified guide and leaders for a safe journey and making the trip a success. We at Nepal Spirit Adventure employ native trekking guides and porters who are trained and qualified for this type of trip and have worked with us for a long time.

Our experienced guide provides with much local information and offers you advice on how to use your free time and by coordinating day to day events of the tour, although (sometimes) he might need you to understand that if things do not go according to our plan set. Our trek guides are fully trained and licensed from Nepal Government, certify from TAAN and Nepal Mountaineering Association.

All our trekking and climbing guides are well qualified and highly experienced with 9- 10 years on this job. We provide training for our staff yearly on medical and climbing, with their efficiency, and cheerful attitude, providing helps, information and the needs of the guests of nationalities.

Assuring that all our trips are well managed by the expert team of tourism professionals all our guides have a good knowledge regarding the culture and customs of the routes on trekking and tours, share experience and cultural insights of the country that’s missed out in travel guide books. During your time with us, you will have time learning Nepali phrases and other cultural aspects during the journey. As we organize varied treks in Nepal Himalaya, on group trekking we provide a trek leader with an assistance leader on each trekking depending upon the size of the groups.

This ensures safe travel with us as our guide/assistance guides get any health medical problem, we still have other main guides and leaders to run the trip smooth as per our standard itinerary. To make the trip enjoyable and pleasant we provide one guide to support and carry your bags among two people with one Sherpa helpers in certain conditions.

Caring Porter

Our porter is fully equipped with warm gear and insured on each trip by the company. We take care of our staff/porter's welfare as well as the client’s safeties.
We closely work with (PAC) Porters Association International Act. We allow maximum load to be carried by our porter with 20 to 25 KG and make sure that your trekking duffel-kit bag should not be more than 20-25 KG.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a must and necessary that you are insured when booking trips with Nepal Spirit Adventure. Insurance protections should cover Travel / Medical sufficiently as well as emergency and immediate rescue evacuation by any means of transportation including helicopters on medical ground.
As well covering against loss or theft of your belonging and valuables and please make sure the insurance covers all the activities that you will be undertaking your stay in Nepal such as Trekking and Climbing including others trips and adventure sports.

Nepal Spirit Adventure holds no responsibility and liability in case of loss, theft or damage of your belongings. We also let you know that Nepalese insurance companies do not have a travel insurance policy for foreign nationals. They have this policy only for Nepalese nationals. We advise you when you travel to Nepal please bring your insurance documents it is top important.

Re-Charging Batteries of Electronic Items on The Trek

We can recharge your batteries, devices with electricity or solar power sources. In Nepal 220 240 volts 50 MHZ (50 Cycles per Second) power is supplied. Just need to have a plug adaptor in case of socket fitting, which you can buy in Kathmandu before the trip since the plugs in Nepal might be different. You might have to pay a small amount of fee/hour for using recharging facilities.

High Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness often known as acute mountain sickness (A.M.S.) in general may occur when people ascend too quickly normally at altitudes of over 3000 m. Most people will feel some effect of altitude, shortness of breath and possibly a light-headed, which is fairly common. Acute mountain sickness is very different and normally involves a severe headache, sickness, and loss of awareness. In almost every potential case there are enough warning signs to take appropriate action. When symptoms of altitude sickness develop you, please tell your trekking guide. He will advise you do deal with your problem. Generally, overexertion and dehydration contribute to altitude sickness. So drink at least 3-4 liters of water every day besides tea and coffee which act as diuretics.
