Mera Peak Climbing - 19 Days
An adventurous trek and climb of the stunning Mera Peak takes you through the beautiful Inkhu Valley. Nepal Spirit Adventure offers an exciting journey into the hidden areas of Khumbu and Everest, centered around the Inkhu River Valley on the Mera Peak climb.
Mera Peak Climbing in Nepal is a striking peak, beautifully situated and surrounded by other high mountains that encircle the picturesque Inkhu Khola Valley. Trekking and climbing Mera Peak offer a delightful experience in lush, green forested regions teeming with tall rhododendrons, oak, pine, and fir trees, as well as expansive meadows of grazing pastureland.
The trek to Mera Peak leads along less-traveled trails southeast of Khumbu, reaching the remote areas of Pangom, Najindingma, and Gai-Kharka, which are among the least-visited locations by other trekkers and climbers.
Mera Peak Climbing and Trekking to Mosum Kharka, where the routes of Lukla meet, and then reaching the Mera Peak base camp for the classic climb to the top (6,470 m | 21,227 ft), where you feel on top of the world and in high spirits with a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding high mountains.
The Mera Peak climb is graded PD, indicating that it involves fewer technical difficulties. This grading is based on the French/Swiss Alpine Climbing system, which is recognized worldwide. While Mera Peak is considered less technical, it still necessitates the use of proper climbing equipment and a good level of physical fitness to ensure a safe ascent and descent.
After a successful Mera Peak climb, head back to Lukla for the flight to Kathmandu, which has sweeping views of mountains for 35 minutes in the air.

After ascending and descending on our trail, we enter the Makalu Barun National Park. Our trail from here to Chhatra Khola is called the Pasang Lhamu trail. On the way, if we are lucky, we might even come across the elusive Red Panda. Overnight in Chhatra Khola.
Trek from Chhatra Khola to Kothe
We walk towards the north on the main trail to Mera Peak. After walking on a trail next to the Majang Khola, we merge with another trail that moves alongside the Hinku Khola. Our trail moves straight ahead towards Tashing Ongma, which has seasonal tea shops. We continue our trek and cross the bridge over the Sanu Khola before reaching Kothe overnight in a lodge.
Trek from Kothe to Thaknak
We trek along the ridge of the Hinku Khola in the shadow of Mera Peak. We take lunch at Gondishung, the summer herders' settlement on the west bank of the Hinku Drangka. The training will also include learning the best climbing technique with the rope overnight in Khare.
Trek from Khare to Mera high camp
We walk through a boulder-strewn course on a steep trail to reach the Mera Peak base camp. From here, we continue further through the Mera La pass to reach the Mera high camp. Our path is along a rocky trail, which can be hazardous if it has recently snowed, as there are a number of crevasses here. We make our way to the top of the rock band, which is marked by a large cairn. Then we set up a high camp while enjoying excellent views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, the south face of Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang, and Baruntse overnight in tent accommodation.
Mera high camp to summit and back to Khare
This is a really important day for the expedition. We wake up around 2 in the morning for breakfast. It’s going to be very cold in the beginning, but soon we warm up as we continue up the glacier and onto a peculiar ridge. The first rays of the sun hit the big peaks, allowing the climbers to adore an amazing red hue glow of mother Nepal. The route is still non-technical as we slowly climb higher into the ever-thinning air. The slope steepens for a section behind the ridge, and the summit comes back into view. At the foot of the final steep summit cone, we may use a fixed rope if the climbing leader believes it’s required. The summit is only a few meters away reaching on top of Mera peak, where your dream filled with success, offering wide panorama including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kangchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7,129m) after a high spirit on the top descend with care to high camp where we rest for a while before descending to Khare overnight in lodge.
Reserve day for contingency
There is no guarantee that we will have favorable weather on our planned day for the summit. Therefore, this day is set aside as a contingency in case we are unable to summit the Mera on the desired day due to bad weather conditions or any other unanticipated reason. However, if the trip goes smoothly, this day will not be required.
Trek from Khare to Kothe
After an adventure of a lifetime experience, return journey back to Lukla as the trek leads to Kothe, walk from base camp without a problem of altitude gain, although the walk leads to a few ups and downs, and back to green vegetation and tree lines at Kotey, a small cattle herder's shelters overnight in a lodge.
Trek from Kothe to Thuli Kharka
From Kothe, the morning walk leads back to forested area with blue Himalayan pines and rhododendron tree lines, then passing several nice grazing areas and meadows with a gentle uphill climb with views of Mera Peak and other high Himalayan peaks, followed by reaching Thuli– Kharka for the last overnight stop before Lukla.
Trek from Thuli Kharka to Lukla via Zatrwa La pass
Today, it will be a long day of walking, and also the last day of trekking. Starting earlier to reach Lukla, as the climb leads over Kalo Himal ridges, then Zatrwa Og, and crosses Zatrwa-La pass at 4,600m. As soon as we cross the pass, we are welcomed by the sight of the beautiful Lukla Valley, which is surrounded by Cho Oyu, Kondge peak, Number Himal, and Kusum Khangru. Then descend downhill to Lukla for the last overnight stop in the Khumbu region. In Lukla, the comfort of a nice and cozy lodge with a farewell dinner among guides, staff, and porters.

City hotels and lodges are on a twin–shared basis. A single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 660. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevations, but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.
MEALS
In cities, Kathmandu only breakfast is included in the package. During the trek-climbing period, 3 times a day meals are included in your Mera PeakTrekking and Climbing Package, we provided clean and hygienic food from these local lodge/tea houses as per the choices on the menu. Breakfast and dinner are provided at the same tea house/lodge while lunch would be on the trail. Every Tea House serves the traditional Nepali meal Dal Bhat (rice and lentils), as well a variety of different food items, such as rice, seasonable vegetables, noodles, potatoes, and soups. Some lodge serves western foods such as pizza, pasta, and French fries. Soft drinks, snacks, and beer are available in most of the Tea Houses' restaurants. A variety of cereals, bread, and egg dishes are generally available for breakfast.
SAFE DRINKING WATER
Along the trek climbing, safe drinking water is very important while we are on high-altitude journeys. We recommend that one should drink at least 3-4 liters of water a day (this helps from de-hydration and altitude problem AMS). As long as possible we recommend you buy sealed packed mineral water and can buy it from every local shop and lodge. Remember! River, spring, and tap water are free, we should not recommend you directly drink it even water looks very clean, and can not drink without adding water purification pills or a filter then will be suitable to drink. You can buy boiled water from every lodge, boiled water, and sealed packed water costs $1-2$ dollars per letter and its cost also depends on where we are from the sea level. So, you need to prepare and packed the extra cost for all the table drinks.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The Classic Route of Mera Peak Trek- Climbing is a moderate trek suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 5-7 hours a day with a light day pack. Walking at a high altitude is more physically demanding than walking at lower altitudes; however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness and have a positive attitude, self-confidence, and strong determination, we can accomplish this trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is vital for participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases to consult their doctor before taking the trip. It is also advised that you inform Nepal Spirit Adventure of any conditions before booking the trek to minimize the risks of altitude sickness.
OUR EXPERIENCED TREK-CLIMBING CREWS
Nepal is a mountainous country walk that takes you to a remote region, it is necessary that you are accompanied by an experienced and qualified guide and leaders for a safe journey and to make the trip a success. We at Nepal Spirit Adventure employ native trekking guides and porters who are trained and qualified for this type of trip and have worked with us for a long time.
Our experienced guide provides much local information and offers you advice on how to use your free time and by coordinating day to day events of the tour, although (sometimes) he might need you to understand that if things do not go according to our plan set. Our trek guides are fully trained and licensed by Nepal Government, and certified by TAAN and Nepal Mountaineering Association.
All our trekking and climbing guides are well qualified and highly experienced with 9- 10 years on this job. We provide training for our staff yearly on medical and climbing, with their efficiency, and cheerful attitude, providing help, information and the needs of the guests of nationalities.
Assuring that all our trips are well managed by the expert team of tourism professionals all our guides have a good knowledge regarding the culture and customs of the routes on trekking and tours, share experience and cultural insights of the country that’s missed out in travel guide books. During your time with us, you will have time to learn Nepali phrases and other cultural aspects during the journey. As we organize varied treks in Nepal Himalaya, on group trekking we provide a trek leader with an assistance leader on each trekking depending upon the size of the group.
This ensures safe travel with us as our guide/assistance guides get any health medical problem, we still have other main guides and leaders to run the trip smooth as per our standard itinerary. To make the trip enjoyable and pleasant we provide one guide to support and carry your bags among two people with one Sherpa helper in certain conditions.
ACCLIMATIZATION
All of Nepal Spirit Adventure’s treks are planned with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), also known as altitude sickness. Going up at a higher altitude too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to kill. We understand that for a safe trek, it is essential to allow sufficient time for acclimatization. Sensible planning is therefore required to minimize the risk of AMS. Nepal Spirit Adventure’s itineraries are designed to prevent AMS as much as possible. But, it is important to remember that some visitors are more vulnerable than others. Your guides and porters will do their every bit in assisting you during the entire trek.
RE-CHARGING BATTERIES (electronic items)
We can recharge your batteries, and devices with electricity, or solar power sources. In Nepal 220 240 volts 50 MHZ (50 Cycles per Second) power is supplied. Just need to have a plug adaptor in case of socket fitting, which you can buy in Kathmandu before the trip since the plugs in Nepal might be different. You might have to pay a small amount of fee/hour for using recharging facilities.
GROUP SIZE
We organize any route of Nepal trek with a fixed departure basis or private trip, the minimum group size would be 1 maximum group size is 10 or more on request. We can also organize a private trip for a solo person with a single supplement cost. Else, join our estimated group departure dates available online market or ask us with your personal suitable flexible dates, we will open group date on the same date.
