ROUTE PERMIT

Trekking to Everest base camp route permit is compulsory for every trekker even for trek guides as well is called Sagarmatha National Park fees in Nepalese rupees Rs. 3,000 per trekker is included in your tour package.

There is another tourist fee required for Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality that costs NPR 2000.00 per trekker. Without both entrances, permits would not be able to do this adventure of Everest base camp trekking.

 EBC TREK ACCOMMODATION

Trekking to Everest base camp, we can find mountain tea houses, lodge accommodation from Lukla to Gorakshep is the last place for a night stop in the lodge, at the Everest base camp lodge is not available.

As per the short Everest base, a camp trek itinerary inclusive of 10 nights in comfortable lodges known as tea houses is run by Sherpa families unless people specify a preference for tents. Every tea house has a central communal area with a large stove that provides heat and a cozy atmosphere.

The bedrooms are unheated and generally have two beds with mattresses, pillows, and a blanket but we highly recommend, that you will need to bring a personal sleeping bag (3 seasons is normally enough).

The lodges-teahouses generally have showers that are powered by gas and they mostly use sit-down flush toilets (some lodges do also have squat toilets). A one-time Hot shower costs you $2-5 dollars.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Food: As per your booking Short Everest Base Camp Trek for 11 days your daily meals are inclusive 3time a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) we provide hygienic best quality food, and can choose from the menu, the food menu of all teahouse is a more or less similar item like MOMO of dumplings, noodles, pasta, potatoes, soup, Nepalese dish DAL BHAT is a very popular and fresh dishes.

Dal Bhat is a food platter of steamed rice served with lentil soup, greens fresh seasonable vegetables. Eating carbohydrate-heavy meals will provide enough energy for a long trek.

We provide food from these local lodge/tea houses as per choices on the menu. Breakfast and dinner are provided at the same tea house/lodge while lunch would be on the trail. Some lodge serves Western foods such as pizza, pasta, and French fries.

Beverage: Soft drinks alcoholic-noon alcoholic such as tea, coffee, mineral water, beer, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, snacks chocolate, biscuit apple pie available in most of the Tea Houses' restaurants. Remember that your own beverage will extra cost, it is not included in the trek package.

TRIP ITINERARIES

Ten-night 11-day short Everest base camp trek itinerary is fit for youth-strung trekkers who do not mind 6-7 hours of walking in high altitude zone each day from one came to another camp but general exercise is required before starting this high-altitude adventure trek to Everest base camp trek at 5,364m.

HIGH ALTITUDE SICKNESS

This is another factor, with good physical fitness some are not able to complete the Everest base camp trek because of high altitude sickness which can affect guides, porters, and travel trekkers.

While you start the trek always be positive and think! Eat hygienic meals, drink enough water at least 3-4 liters each day avoid deep-fried food and alcoholic drinks after Namche.

Trek at your pace, always slowly, sleep well, and try to be away from your work tension, it is your golden holiday try to use it comfortably as much as possible, trek in groups, and do not sleep alone at a high point in Lobuche and Gorakshep, have a good breakfast, eat small lunch and superior dinner, before dinner use verities soup. Flight time for Lukla usually happens early morning when a short drive takes you to Kathmandu airport, after checking in at the respective airline counter with security then board a small aircraft for a scenic short of 30 minutes to land at Lukla's small airstrip. 

During air grand panorama of Himalayan peaks with Everest and Makalu at a close distance as the plane heads to the runway to stop at the parking area at Tenzing and Hillary Airport in Lukla where our experienced trekking crews welcome you with time here for refreshing stops and then walk starts accompanied by our native guide and porters.

Begin with a pleasant start downhill past Lukla town to reach Dudh Kosi River valley with Sherpa farm villages as our route leads further encountering prayer walls and spinning bells to reach our first overnight stop at Phakding village.

Our second-day walk is quite long due to an increase in heights as morning starts beyond Phakding entering a river gorge and crossing over a bridge to reach a nice lovely village at Monjo with views of Thermasarkhu peaks. 

From here short descent to enter Sagarmatha National Park, where all trekkers have to obtain National Park permits, as TIMS (Trekking Information Management Systems) pre-obtained in Kathmandu. Sagarmatha is a Nepalese name for Everest, whereas local Sherpa of Tibetan origin languages calls Chomlungma in both words means Great Mother.

From here cross over a bridge to reach Jorsalle the last village before the climb to Namche Bazaar, at Jorsalle for possible lunch stops and then walks lead towards river banks into lovely woodland of pines and rhododendron after crossing a last high suspension bridge with a gradual climb on the winding road facing views of Kongde-Kusum Kanguru with Everest and Lhotse to reach famous Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar is located 3,440 m high with amphitheater landscapes adorned with a number of well-built houses serving as hotels, lodges, and resorts. At Namche for overnight stops with grand views of Kongde and Thermasarkhu peaks and time for short walks around the lines of its streets with well-stocked shops and stores and many restaurants and fresh bakeries.

From Namche morning a short steep climb to reach a gradual scenic trail, where the walk leads on the winding path facing glorious views of Everest with magnificent Amadablam within a cool shade of the woodland.

As the walk progress downhill to reach a bridge over the Imjatse River to a small place at Phunge-Tenga Situated forest surrounding, a possible lunch stop here where an afternoon walk takes you to a climb into the cool shade of the forest and then reaching a small plateau at Thyangboche with an amazing panorama of mountains with Everest in views.

At Thyangboche visit its colorful and impressive monastery and witness the priest-Lama and monks active in prayer with grand surroundings of tall trees and mountains. 

Thyangboche is a scenic and beautiful spot where once a year in the month of mid-October or November a festival is held called Mani-Rimdu, where you can observe monks adorned in different deities' masks wading with evil spirits.

The morning walk leads on an easy downhill past the small place of Deboche and then leaves the green vegetation and tree lines reaching a steel bridge over the Imjatse River, where the walk leads on an open wide country with magnificent views of Amadablam

A slow uphill reaches you at Pangboche the last permanent village, where other places on the route are temporary settlements to cater to the requirement of travelers and trekkers, as the walk proceeds into dry and arid terrain and crossing a small bridge with short steep ups to reach beautiful Imjatse valley where Dingboche located. 

At Dingboche stay overnight with views of stunning Island peaks with Nuptse, Lhotse, and Taboche peaks with the North Face of Amadablam.

A full rest day at Dingboche for better acclimatization to make sure that every member of the group is well and fit for the onward journey to Everest base camp.

From Dingboche take a short hike to Nagurjung hill for a great panorama of Imjatse valley with the Island, Taboche peaks include views of the world’s fifth-highest Mt. Makalu towards the east direction.

Afternoon rest and enjoy the surrounding views of peaks at ease in the lodge at Dingboche.

Morning on leaving Dingboche with a steep climb up to a ridge lined with prayer flags and Buddhist monuments Stupas, facing grand views of peaks where the walk from here leads on a gradual uphill to reach Thugla

A small place with about 2-3 tea-house serving as lunch stops located at the end of massive Khumbu glaciers that melts into a torrential river, from here a steep climb for an hour to reach Thugla ridge top. 

Here witness some memorials of unfortunate climbers around the mountains of high Khumbu and Everest, after a refreshing break walk is easier with a slow climb to reach Lobuche situated in a corner of the valley beneath Lobuche peaks.

Overnight at Lobuche in its nice and cozy lodge with views of Nuptse peaks towards Everest and Lhotse.

After a pleasant stop at Lobuche, a walk leads towards our main highlights of the journey to reach the much-awaited destination Everest Base Camp, where a walk in the morning leads on a pleasant path and then a short climb to reach higher ground. 

Then back on nice trails reaching a place where you can visit Glass Pyramid place, a metrological station's joint venture of the Italian and Nepalese Governments, surveying the weather and movement of ice and glaciers.

From here with interesting information about the project walk leads towards moraine and ice above Khumbu's massive glaciers and then a short descent to a wide-open field at Gorakshep, a place with few lodges.

Gorakshep was an original earlier Everest base camp before it moved further east.  After a short stop and rest heading towards our goal walking into moraine and rocks to reach Everest base camp in the backdrop of mighty Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers. 

Everest has hidden between the peaks of Lho-la and Nuptse where a tip of Everest can be seen from the base camp, with ever-present views of towering peaks after an exciting moment of the adventure heading back to Gorakshep for the last overnight on the highest point of the journey.

Gorakshep is located beneath Kalapathar and a lofty peak of Pumori, morning a steep climb heading into a rocky path with vigorous breathtaking uphill to reach the top the highest spot of the adventure at Kalapathar.

Situated above 5,545m facing a sweeping panorama of high giant mountains a view of Pumori and Everest at close distance. 

After a glorious scenic moment descends to Gorakshep and continue walking on the same trail back to Lobuche to reach Thugla, where the path from Dingboche and Pheriche splits as our walk leads downhill towards a flat windy valley of Pheriche. 

Walking for an hour on the scenic valley to reach Pheriche a settlement with a number of good lodges to stay with views of Amadablam-Taboche-Cholatse with other series of peaks, at Pheriche for an overnight stop.

NOTE: If we do not climb up to Kala Patthar, the trekking journey will be 7.1 Miles and 11.5 Km 5 hours only.

From Pheriche, a morning walk leads to the end of the valley with a short descent to a river and then climbs to a ridge with a Stupa, where the walk leads to a long descent past Somare and Pangboche village.

After Pangboche retracing the journey back uphill to Thyangboche and then downhill to Imjatse River with a steep climb for some time to reach Lobesa and Shanasa villages and then on an easy walk to a small beautiful place at Kyanjima.

The walk continues on route Namche with wonderful views of Everest-Lhotse-Nuptse-Amadablam with an array of peaks, some of the areas on the walk lead you to a pleasant place where sometimes one can spot some wild-life like Musk Deer, a herd of Himalayan Thar with colorful Danphe (Lophoporous / Impeyan Pheasant) national bird of the country. 

Finally, the walk ends overnight at Namche Bazaar after scenic walks of the day from Pheriche feels a quite long day.

After a fine morning with mountain views for breakfast, then start to walk past Namche Bazaar with a long descent to reach the confluence of Imajatse and Bhote Kosi rivers that makes and joins to Dudh Kosi River.

Our last walking day of the adventure, where the walk follows the Dudh Kosi River all the way to Phakding village and then headed towards Ghat and Tade-Kosi small areas with the last climb to reach the main gate of Lukla. 

After a final climb of the journey rest of the walk is easy going through Lukla town and its markets place to our overnight stop in a nice lodge at Lukla, with time in the afternoon for short walks.

If you have previous trekking and climbing experience it will add a plus point to the trek chosen, most of the trek is nontechnical effort walks. The highest height gain on this trip is at 5,545m above sea level.

The walk involves lots of ups and downs, walking through local villages, farmlands, terraces, and the riverside as long as you have energy walking for 4- 6 hours a day, and if you are qualified for the trek but still require moderate health and fitness.

We strongly advise travelers to consult their medical doctor before traveling do a regular check-up and hand the report to us while booking a trip with us.

We highly recommend you have a (two-pin or 3pin) plug adaptor in case of socket fitting, which you can buy in Kathmandu before the trip since the plugs in Nepal might be different. You might have to pay a small amount of fee/hour for using recharging facilities.

# How friendly are group size and departure date?

All our departure date is guaranteed as per the Everest Base Camp Short Trek departure date. We organize any route of Nepal treks with a fixed departure basis or private trip, the minimum group size would be two and the maximum group size is ten or more on request.

We can also organize a private trip for a solo person with a single supplement cost. Otherwise, join our estimated group departure dates available online market or ask us for your personal suitable flexible dates, and we will open group dates on the same date.

# Can you advise in which months are best for this trek?

Trekking to Mount Everest base camp in Nepal Himalayas, the main trek season is from September to June when daytime temperatures at most altitudes are generally comfortable for walking, the sky is very clear most of the time, and rain and snow are occasional occurrences.

In the daytime temperatures will vary from 15ºC to 35ºC in the capital city of Nepal- Kathmandu valley to around 10ºC at 3,600m and progressively lower the higher we go. Different seasons offer different advantages for trekking, climbing, and hiking.

Post Monsoon | Autumn Mid-September to November:
These months are the main trekking season in Everest trekking in Nepal, the day temperatures in Kathmandu are approximately above 20ºC. Skies are usually clear and days on the trek are sunny and have mild clear mountain views. The night will be colder with temperatures dropping as low as minus 10ºC at the highest altitudes area.

Winter | Last week of December to the end of February:
Despite the cooler conditions, this is an ideal time to trek in Nepal. Skies are usually very clear, especially in December and the mountain views are at their best.

Nights will be very cold with temperatures down to minus 15ºC to minus20ºC at the highest altitudes but days are pleasant and sunny. The trekking trails are also much less busy at this time of year. In Kathmandu, maximum daytime temperatures are 19ºC.

Pre-Monsoon/Spring | March to May:
During this period of the Everest base camp trek, both day and night temperatures will be warmer in general but often a haze will build up in the afternoons.

It is very hot in the lowland and temperatures rise to 35ºC in Kathmandu. Flowers bloom in this season and this is one of the reasons people choose to trek in the spring season. Snow can be expected on any departure, usually at higher altitudes.
