Acclimatization Day at Dingboche

After an excellent acclimatized day at Dingboche, the high-altitude level of the trek starts from here, the first part of the walk from Dingboche to Duglha is a gentle pleasant surrounding worthy snowy mountain views, Duglha to Lobuche quiet physical top walk gradually as our progresses heading into our main highlight goal of the adventure at Everest base camp with notorious 'Khumbu Ice Fall' using overnight stay at Lobuche (4,931m/16,177ft), and Gorakshep (5,170m/16,96ft) both places are high altitude night stop. From Lobuche to Everest Base Camp is a very long day of trekking, one needs to walk between seven to eight hours, finally reach Mount Everest Base Camp enjoy a merry marvelous time there then our journey is the same route walking back to Lukal, with the last final adventure and climb to a scenic viewpoint on the top of Kalapatthar 'rocky hill', located above [5,545m/18,193ft] the highest spot of this trip facing a glorious panorama of peaks with Everest at a mere distance. We brief together about the trip package details with the group meeting at 5:30pm in the Hotel Thamel Park (center located in Thamel area), introduce with trek leader who is company on the trek, check the trek equipment, collect the sleeping bag, down jacket, and duffel bag (return after the trek), question and answer you may have on coming this high altitude adventure and extra bag storage which is not using on trip, it is free of cost overnight stay at hotel Thamel Park.

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla approximately takes 35 minute through Himalayan scenery, as per Kathmandu - Lukla flight schedule our trek guide-leader will pick up you from your hotel then transfer to the domestic airport for the the trans-Himalayan flight, and dramatic landing on the hillside at Lukla: the gateway to the Khumbu-Everest region. Meet local assistance (porter), manage your trek duffel bag handover to porter, and walk downhill to the Sherpa settlement of Cheung. The trail then follows the side of the Dudh Koshi Valley before ascending to Ghat (2530m) another gentle hour leads up to Phakding overnight in teahouse, located the bank of River.

Kathmandu to Lukla Flight Note: 

During the main trek season time: April to May and October to November, the Lukla flight will be from Manthali (Ramechhap) airport which is about 120km far from Kathmandu, the overland bus transportation is organize by company. For the private transportation is also available paying by extra cost. The flight journey from Manthali to Lukla approximately is 12 minutes!! Kathmandu to Ramechhap by bus takes approximately 4 hours.

After breakfast at hotel pine forest, we start our day 02: trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar its require to walk approximately between six to seven hours. The trail meanders through pine forest, along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges via the Sherpa villages of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, and Jorsale: entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park and permit checkpoint; with tranquil views of glistening Thamserku (6,618m/21,714m).

The trail continues along the riverbed to the confluence of the Bhote and Dudh Koshi Rivers. It then climbs steadily, crossing the high Tenzing- Hilary suspension bridge: with inspiring glimpses of Everest and the Nuptse – Lhotse ridge. A final three-hour ascent through the pine forest leads to the prosperous trading and administrative town of Namche Bazaar the gateway to the Khumbu-Everest region.

At Namche Bazaar for a rest day to support acclimatization at this right altitude of above 3,000 m high, on this day take a short hike to Everest View Hotel above Namche Bazaar, the first Porsche hotel or resort of the Khumbu area.

This place offers grand views of Everest and Amadablam peaks with other adjoining peaks within beautiful green woodland of tall rhododendrons and silver fir trees. Other options will be walking high above Namche at the Park Museum area facing mighty views of Everest, Lhotse, and stunning looking Amadablam peaks, with time to visit the museum of great interest with full information of the Khumbu areas for Sherpa culture and history.

From Namche morning a short steep climb to reach a gradual scenic trail, where the walk leads on the winding path facing glorious views of Everest with magnificent Amadablam within a cool shade of the woodland. As the walk progresses downhill to reach a bridge over the Imjatse River to a small place at Phunge-Tenga situated forest, a possible lunch stop here where an afternoon walk takes you to a climb into a cool shade forest of quaint woodlands of rhododendron, pines, firs trees, and then reaching a small plateau at Tengboche with an amazing panorama of mountains with Everest in views.

At Tengboche visit its colorful and impressive monastery and witness the priest-lama and monks active in prayer in the grand surroundings of tall trees and mountains. Tengboche is a scenic and beautiful spot where once a year in the month of mid-October or November a festival is held called Mani-Rimdu, where you can observe monks adorned in different deities' masks wading evil spirits overnight at lodge.

Morning views of Everest and magnificent Ama-Dablam, walk leads downhill for a few hours to the bridge over Imjatse River, after the bridge walk on the open country where the tree lines disappear only for a few sparse vegetation and juniper bushes, walking on the gentle uphill for a while to reach at Pangboche village at 3,900 meters.

This point is the last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and continues walking on the nice terrain with the last climb to Dingboche village for an overnight stop, located in the Imjatse valley with the picturesque panorama of snow-capped mountains including North Face of Ama-Dablam.

A full rest day at Dingboche for better acclimatization to make sure that every member in the group is well and fit for the onward journey to Everest base camp, Dingboche takes a short hike to Nangkartshang (5090m) hill for a great panorama of Imjatse valley with Island, Taboche peaks includes views of world’s fifth-highest Mt. Makalu towards east direction.

Morning on leaving Dingboche with a steep climb up to a ridge lined with prayer flags and Buddhist monuments Stupas, facing grand views of peaks where the walk from here leads on a gradual uphill to reach Thugla. A small place with about 2-3 tea houses serving as lunch stops located at the end of massive Khumbu glaciers that melt into a torrential river.

From here a steep climb for an hour to reach Thugla ridge top. Here witness some memorials of unfortunate climbers around the mountains of high Khumbu and Everest, after a refreshing break walk is easier with a slow climb to reach Lobuche situated in a corner of the valley beneath Lobuche peaks. Overnight at Lobuche in its nice and cozy lodge with views of Nuptse peaks towards Everest and Lhotse.

After a pleasant stop at Lobuche, a walk leads towards our main highlights of the journey to reach our much-awaited destination Everest Base Camp, where they walk in the morning leads on the pleasant path and then a short climb to reach higher ground. Then back on nice trails reaching a place where you can visit Glass Pyramid place, a metrological station's joint venture of the Italian and Nepalese Governments, surveying the weather and movement of ice and glaciers.

From here with interesting information about the project walk leads towards moraine and ice above Khumbu's massive glaciers and then a short descent to a wide-open field at Gorakshep, a place with few lodges.

Gorakshep was an original Everest base camp before it moved further east. After a short stop and rest heading towards our goal walking into moraine and rocks to reach Everest base camp in the backdrop of mighty Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers. Everest is hidden between the peaks of Lho-la and Nuptse where a tip of Everest can be seen from the base camp, with ever-present views of towering peaks after an exciting moment of the adventure heading back to Gorakshep for the last overnight on the highest point of the journey.

Gorakshep is located beneath Kalapathar and a lofty peak of Pumori, morning a steep climb heading into a rocky path with vigorous breathtaking uphill to reach the top the highest spot of the adventure at Kalapathar, situated above 5,545m facing a sweeping panorama of high giant mountains a view of Pumori and Everest at close distance.

After a glorious scenic moment descend to Gorakshep and continue walking on the same trail back to Lobuche to reach Thugla, where the path from Dingboche and Pheriche splits as our walk leads downhill towards a flat windy valley of Pheriche. Walking for an hour on the scenic valley to reach Pheriche a settlement with a number of good lodges to stay with views of Amadablam-Taboche-Cholatse with other series of peaks, at Pheriche for an overnight stop.

NOTE: If we do not climb up to Kala Patthar, the trekking journey will be 7.1 Miles and 11.5 Km in 5 hours only.

Comparatively others trek days, today we walk downhill to Pangboche, Diwoche and Tengboche short walking hours, approximately between four to five hours, the mountains views are spectacular, arriving at camp today in the afternoon rest of time for meditation inside the Tengboche monastery, the nightlife will be wonderful seeing the surrounding the close views of snowy mountains.

After breakfast  trek downhill to Imjatse River with a steep climb for some time to reach Lobesa and Shanasa villages and then on an easy walk to a small beautiful place at Kyanjima. T

The walk continues on route Namche with wonderful views of Everest-Lhotse-Nuptse-Amadablam with an array of peaks, some of the areas on the walk lead you to a pleasant place where sometimes one can spot some wild-life like Musk Deer, a herd of Himalayan Thar with colorful Danphe (Lophoporous / Impeyan Pheasant) national bird of the country lunch break at the Namche Bazaar then continue downhill trek to Manju for overnight stop.

Today is our last walking day of the adventure, morning walk on the best pleasant path where the walk follows the Dudh Kosi River all the way to Phakding village and then heads towards Ghat and Tade-Kosi small areas with the last climb to reach the main gate of Lukla. After a final climb of the journey rest of the walk is easy going through Lukla town and its markets place to our overnight stop in a nice lodge at Lukla celebration with fellow trekkers and staff.

How much does the daily food cost on average?

The trek meals aren't like before 1953, verities hygienic meals are available at every tea house and lodge, and you can choose the meal from a menu such as Nepalese, Indian, Chinese, and continental. Approximately it will cost per person USD 30 to 35 dollars, if you don't eat much it costs about USD 23 to 25 dollars per person per day on average it will cost 450 dollars for the whole trek.

Can I get a Nepal Visa upon arrival? How much it will cost?

Of course, you can receive a Nepal visa after you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport at the visa section, if you are arriving in Nepal through overland services from the India and China border you can get a Nepal visa from both borders, there are immigration for Nepal visa. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or other entry points, you can fill out a visa application form available at the airport.
