Tsum Valley Trek Route Overview

The trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola, where we commence our trekking adventure. From Machha Khola, we follow the trail along the Budi Gandaki River, passing through charming villages and terraced fields. Our route takes us through traditional villages such as Machha Khola, and Jagat, where we can experience the local culture and interact with the hospitable villagers. Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, Nepal Spirit Adventure's crew will welcome you on your arrival then transfer to your hotel is included in the trek package. If your Nepal arrival time is in the day hour you can stroll in Thamel streets local market, if the arrival in night just check in at the hotel overnight in Kathmandu.

Today will be a complete rest day in Kathmandu. You can organize the trekking equipment you may not have met your Tsum Valley trek guide and organize with him your trek sleeping bag, down jacket, and duffel bag (returned after the trek) is included in the package.

The company manager is applying for the Isum Valley special trek permit at the immigration and other necessary CAMP/MCP entry permit. If you are interested in a city tour of Kathmandu, you can join our regular city tour of Kathmandu. The tour cost will be an extra cost and is not included in the trek package overnight at the hotel.

Today we drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola through Dhading Beshi and Arughat. The road deteriorates and is quite rough and bumpy from Dhading to Arughat. This afternoon we follow a trail through the woods heading upriver along the banks of the Budhi Gandaki River and then across the mountains from where we have frequent views down to the river far below. Long hours bus journey, overnight stay in a teahouse of Machha Khola.

After breakfast, start the trek, In the first session, we will pass the Tatopani-hot Spring, a place with a hot spring waterfall. From there, we will climb over another ridge, then cross the Budhi Gandaki River. Climb the staircase; we reach Dobhan. Crossing a bridge over the Dobhan Khola, the trail climbs to Duman.

Climbing up again to the Budhi Gandaki, we will reach Yaru Khola. The kind of climbing and crossing the bridge happen at the Yaru Khola as well as Tharo Bharyang. Cross the west part of the BudhiGandakii; we will reach the village of Jagat night in teahouse.

After breakfast, we will start our Tsum Valley Today journey start climbing over a rocky narrow path up to hills to Salleri. After Salleri we will then climb down to Sirdibas. Our walk will continue to Ghatta Khola and the open valley getting too close to us. We will climb the small hill to reach Philim after crossing the suspension bridge.

After We cross the Philim to the north along the forest with the views of the narrow valley we climb along with forest areas for about an hour and reach Ekle Bhatti. Moving higher along pine forests, we reach a scenic gorge and drop to a junction. We take the right trail that leads to Tsum Valley our stay for the night on Lokpa. From here onward air gets cooler with a touch of Tibetan culture.

After breakfast, crosses the valley, and after the half-hour walk on the right side, we get a chance to see the big and beautiful waterfall and enter the pine forest. After the short walk on today's Tsum Valley trek, down the hill, we reach Tsum Valley.

We can enjoy the views of pine and rhododendron forest along with the best view of the Himalchuli Mountains at 7893m not only that we can have a look over a small beautiful village.

After climbing down the hill for half an hour towards Lungwa Khola and climbing jick jack and difficult path two hours north, we reach Gumlung passing the pine and rhododendrons forest.

By crossing the Siyar Khola, we finally arrive at Chumling. We get a chance to view Shringi Himal from Chumling and we can visit the old Chumling gompa and the streets of the stone village.

After breakfast, start the trek by crossing the suspension bridge on the opposite bank of the river we get a chance to enjoy the views of Ganesh Himal. After the short walk from the Rainjam to Serpu Khola and crossing another bridge, we arrive at the Gho Village.

If we continue to climb Tsum for two hours we can reach to Village of Chhokangparo. If the weather is in our favor then we can enjoy the views of Himchuli at 7,893 meters and Ganesh Himal at 7140m. After enjoying such an attractive view we will cross Chokhangparo, We need to be careful of the altitude problem while climbing above Chokhangparo.

We pass the Lamagaon crossing rope suspension bridge to the Rachen Gompa, which is well known as nunnery Gompa too on our today walk of Tsum Valley trek. We will visit for a short time and then we cross the Shiar Khola. We continue to walk through the well-managed village of Lar (micro hydro power), Phurbe, and Pangdun.

Leaving the old historic Stupa of Buddha on a way crossing the village of Chhule, climbing upstream, and crossing the bridge, we finally arrive at the Nile. If we want, we can visit Chhuto a famous monastery of Chhule which is located at the top, the night teahouse of the Nile.

We are now almost close to the Tibetan border on our Tsum Valley trek. Walk to the west bank of the valley through the Tibetan landscapes. Climb up to the Mu Gompa. We also visit the monastery. Then after, we visit the Dhephu Doma Gompa.

A rest or free day at Mu Gomba for a local day-tour of the villages and to interact with the natives of Tsum, this place hardly see few numbers of westerners, at Mu visit the old Mu Gomba which houses antique scrolls, statues,s and relics this is one of the most famed and important monasteries of Tsum and Manaslu region.

Last day around the Tsum Valley area, the morning walk on the long downhill to Chumling village, most of the walk is on the same route passing several farm areas and farmhouses and back to the forest, after the downhill walk reaching back to Chumling village for an overnight stop.

Today wake up with morning tea have a quick substantial breakfast then we will pack our bag pack and be ready to downhill to Sallery village. Before we reach Sallery village there are several villages we will cross and there are some of the best Mountain Viewpoints along the Tsum Valley trekking trail overnight in the teahouse.

We will trek from Sallery to Machhakhola through Jagat and Tatopani. We climb down to Sirdibas and we finally reach Jagat. We climb down further which takes us to Yaruphant. After crossing the dry climate of Tibet, we get to subtropical green vegetation. We continue our trek to Dobhan and finally arrive at Tatopani.

There is a hot spring at Tatopani, you can enjoy the hot spring by dipping yourself into it and relax your tired muscles by soaking yourself in the hot spring if not you can continue walking ups and down from Tatopani to reach Khorlabesi where you can rest for a day or The path crosses the Tharo Khola flowing in the rocky gorge.

It would help if you moved towards the river and traversed to Machha Khola village. You need to walk along the Budhi Gandaki River to reach the Gurung village of Labubesi. You should pass the two waterfalls on the steep rocky path on the side of a vertical rock then we reach Khursane.

Continuing walk along Budi Gandaki’s edge and cross the Sal forests. Finally, you need to cross the bridge to arrive at Machha Khola.

Morning board on a vehicle for the drive back to Kathmandu, as the journey leads with a few short ups and then downhill all the way to Arughat, continue the journey on the same route to Dhadingbesi and at Trisuli River, after Trisuli River on the main highway to Kathmandu, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels overnight in Kathmandu.

    Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, you will be warmly welcomed by our friendly airport representative or staff. They will be waiting for you with a display board bearing the name Nepal Spirit Adventure. From there, you will be transferred to your designated hotel in Kathmandu.

    Once you have settled in at your hotel, we will schedule a convenient time in the afternoon or evening to meet and discuss important details about your trip. During this meeting, we will provide you with comprehensive information regarding your chosen trip itinerary, including the services that are included and excluded. It will be an opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have about the trip.

    Furthermore, we will introduce you to your experienced guide who will be accompanying you throughout your trek.

    Accommodations in Kathmandu

    During your stay in Kathmandu, we provide comfortable accommodation at 2 to 3-star tourist standard hotels. The rooms are arranged on a twin-sharing basis and include breakfast. If you are traveling as part of a group, you will be paired with a fellow group member of the same gender. However, if you prefer to have a room to yourself, you can request a single room supplement at an additional cost.
