Tailor-Made Trip & Departure
18 Days Upper Mustant Trekking departure from Kathmandu as per our fix departure date. Private trek can be arranged any time of the year. If our set trek departure dates are not conveninet to you, you may choose alternate departure dates. Private trek is best suited for cuoples, families, wrok colleagues and small group of friends. Accommodations
We will be staying at 3-star hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Lodge and guest house along the Upper Mustang Trek. We will arrange clean room along the trekking.

Meals
All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast included in Kathmandu. While on trek, we have breakfast and dinner in the tea-houses/lodges we spend the night and lunch on our way to the next destination. Nepalese, Tibetan, the more common continental and Indian cuisines are common choices in the menu.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements
Upper Mustang Trekking  is a moderate trek. Travelers who can walk up to 6-7 hours a day on an uphill and downhill trail will find this trek fulfilling. It is best that we prepare ourselves for the trek by jogging and exercising regularly at least a month prior to the start of the trek. Trekking to the Upper Mustant should be relatively easier for those who have experience walking/trekking in a high altitude environment. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is also important that we consult our doctor. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Nepal Spirit Adventure before booking the trek.

Best Time to Travel
The best time to trek to the Upper Mustant trek is Spring (March to August) and Autumn (September to November). The temperature is moderate in these seasons and guarantees amazing views through the trip.

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu (1,315m/4,314ft) airport pick up transfer to hotelOn arrival in Kathmandu international airport received by Nepal Spirit airport representative with a transfer to respective hotels downtown in the hub of Kathmandu city, after checking in and refreshment rest of time leisure overnight in tourist standard 3 star hotel.

Day 02In Kathmandu cultural heritage city sightseeing tour and trek preparation After enjoying breakfast (included), today is a day to relax in Kathmandu. World heritage tour, sightseeing trip to one of the major world Heritage sites in and around Kathmandu such as Basantapur, Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square), Swayambhunath temple (the Monkey Temple) the Hindu temple pashupatinath or the Boudhanath stupa, one of the biggest in the world and its surrounding area, where you can find some of the finest Thangka paintings in Nepal. Later on in the afternoon you will visit the office for a check on your trip/trekking equipment and to answer any questions you might have, Nepal Spirit Adventure will brief you in detail about the trip, make sure you have, or will find, all the necessary trekking equipment you need, as well as introducing you to the guide who will accompany you for the whole trip overnight in hotel.

Day 03Drive to Pokhara (8,20m/2,690ft) by tourist bus 6 hrs overnight in hotelAfter breakfast, travel by tourist coach or on private car to Pokhara driving on Nepal main busy, scenic highway, an interesting overland journey on the Himalayan foothills. On reaching Pokhara transfer to respective hotels by the serene Phewa Lake where most of the good tourist standard hotels and restaurant located. (For flying option scenic flight of 30 minutes on reaching at Pokhara airport our staff will transfer you to respective hotels by the Phewa Lake with free afternoon)

Day 04Fly to Jomsom (2,700m/8,858ft) trek to Kagbeni (2790m/9,153ft) 4 hoursWith a pleasant stop at Pokhara, early morning drive to Pokhara airport for short scenic flight to Jomsom, on flight views of beautiful mountains and then landing at Jomsom airport located on the shelf of Kali-Gandaki River. Jomsom, headquarter town of Mustang district, after Jomsom first day trek begins on Kali-Gandaki river valley around windswept country. Afternoon will be very windy, after few hours of good walk with great views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri’s reach at Kagbeni village. A nice Tibetan like village and this village gateway to Upper Mustang the forbidden city of Lo Manthang located on the ancient Himalayan Caravan trade route to Tibet.

Day 05Kagbeni to Chele (3,115m/10,219ft) 6 hoursMorning walk on uphill through canyon to follow a river upstream with unique landscapes of red cliff wall in-between the walking trails, and then slowly reaching farm villages with cultivated lands at Tirigaon village. This nice walk with impressive views of natural landscapes erosion of red colored cliff canyon and then few hours of good walk reaches to our overnight stop at Chele village, a moderate size settlement.

Day 06Chele to Geling (3,500m/11,482ft) 5 hoursFrom Chele (spelled as Tsele also), morning walk starts with a climb to Gyakar village, and from here trek around dry and barren landscapes to reach at Samar village, one of the lovely looking villages of Mustang area. After Samar village with short stops walk to Bhena and then leading with a steep climb to a ridge top of Yamda La pass at 3,860 meters high, offering grand vista of Mustang area with high mountains of Mt. Dhaulagiri. From here walk down-hill to overnight stop at Geling village via Syangboche village.

Day 07Geling to Tsarang- Charang (3,620/11,876ft) 6 hoursMorning visit old Geling monastery and witness Buddhist mani prayer wheels propelled with water power, after monastery tour trek towards Ghami village, and then leading to cross Ghaymi Khola (stream) walk leads following a long and interesting line of Mani walls (holy prayer stone) from here walk to Dhakmar village. After few hours of good trek arriving at Tsarang village surrounded by large fields of crops like buck wheat’s for overnight stop and visit of Tsarang old monastery.

Day 08Charang to Lo-Manthan (3,840m/12,598ft) 4 hoursToday a short day compared to earlier days walk to reach our final destination to Lo Manthang with classic wall which guard this large village. At one time a forbidden kingdom, morning walk starts crossing a steel bridge, and then to Marang village. From this village climb to reach a scenic ridge top, coming across several chortens and mani stones, between Tsarang and on Lo Manthang trail with grand views of arid landscapes in the shade of Nilgiri’s, Tilicho and Bhrikuti peaks. Walk leads to a climb over Lo La pass at 3,950 meters with first views of Lo Manthang walled city and its fort like village. From here descend to the bottom of the pass and on nice trail to reach at Lo Manthang for two nights stop.

Day 09In Lo-Manthang explore and local hikeLo Manthang will be the highest overnight stop of this adventure, here with time to explore this fascinating village with old Tibetan like houses enclosed with great high wall, visit historical and cultural center the main attraction of Lo-Manthang. The four main monasteries are Namgyal Gompa, Champa Lakhang (God House), Red Thubchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the great Entrance Hall. Advance permission required to enter king’s palace to visit interior of the old palace and to grant audience with former king or Raja of Mustang if possible.

Day 10 Lo-Manthang to Dhakmar (3,810m/12,500ft) 6 hoursAfter an interesting time in Lo-Manthang morning walk starts on the same route back to Marang village, and then walk west using an old path to Dhakmar village for overnight stop.

Day 11Dhakmat to Geling (3,500m/11,482ft) 5 hoursFrom Dhakmar village, morning walk heading on the same route with long series of Mani Walls, and then cross a bridge over Ghami Khola to reach at Ghami village for overnight, time permitting visit Geling monastery.

Day 12Geling to Tsusang (2,940m/9,645ft) 6 hoursGradually this wonderful journey comes to an end as the morning walk starts with a short climb to Syangboche village, from here short hours leads to Yamda La with grand views, and then downhill to Bhena and Samar villages. Walk leads by a stream passing Gyakar and Chele villages and finally ending this good walk at Tsusang village.

Day 13Tsusang to Kagbeni 5 hours trekMorning walk on the same trail back to Kagbeni village after an enjoyable and interesting time around Upper Mustang, a pleasant walk brings you to Kagbeni village before ending the trip at Jomsom.

Day 14Kagbeni to Jomsom 4 hoursToday final walk and trek of this enjoyable and exciting adventure, as the morning walk leads to Jomsom town, retracing the Kaligandaki river valley route most of the way. On reaching Jomsom into nice lodge for last overnight around Mustang district. Here celebrate with local apple products.

Day 15Fly to Pokhara 25 minute journey transfer to hotelWith morning flight time due to strong afternoon wind in Jomsom and Kaligandaki valley, walk to Jomsom airport for a scenic short flight back to Pokhara and the transfer to hotel, nearby Phewa lake, with afternoon free and to enjoy the views of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 16Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus 6 hoursMorning an overland drive back to Kathmandu, after a fantastic and memorable trip in the high areas of Upper Mustang, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free for own individual activities. Upon Arrival in Nepal
On arrival in Nepal at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, our airport representative or staff will receive you with warm welcome then transfer to your respective hotels. Afternoon or evening time we will review and discus with much information regarding your trip itinerary and included / excluded services as per the trip itinerary chosen, at the same time introduce your guide who will help you with final preparation for your trek.

Kathmandu Accommodation
We provide three stars hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara with accommodation based on twin sharing basis with breakfast. If you are trekking in groups joining basis, you will share a room with someone of the same gender from your group. If you prefer a single room supplement in Kathmandu and on-route trekking, you can request for single supplement (which will be at extra cost beside trip price stated). Accommodation During Trekking
In Everest, Annapurna and Langtang trekking region we provide accommodation in tea house (mountain lodge). A Tea House is a combination of guest house, restaurant, and social hang out. The rooms are with twin beds and little additional furniture like small tables or chairs. Blankets are generally provided (we recommend that you carry your own sleeping bags). Most bathrooms are common with squatting (Asian) toilets or of western comfort with sitting toilets. Most Tea Houses / Lodge have running water facilities. Most of the lodges have hot water for showers, but with extra charge in using hot showers.

Meals During Trekking
During trekking session full board meals are included (breakfast, Lunch and dinner as well as tea or coffee provided). We provide food from these local lodge / tea house as per choices in menu. Breakfast and dinner provided at the same tea house / lodge while lunch would be on the trail. Every Tea House serves traditional Nepali meal Dal Bhat (rice and lentils), and as well variety of different food items, such as rice, seasonable vegetables, noodles, potatoes and soups. Some lodge serves western foods such as pizza, pasta and French fries. Soft drinks, snacks and beer are available in most of the Tea Houses restaurants. A variety of cereals, bread and eggs dishes are generally available for breakfast.

Safe Drinking Water in Trekking
Safe drinking water is very important while we are on trek and we recommend that one should drink at least 3-4 litters water a day (this helps from de-hydration and altitude problem AMS). We provide filtered clean water and adding purification pills in our entire trip package. Beside this, if you wish to drink sealed packed mineral and boiled water you can buy en route at extra cost.

Health and Fitness Required
Health and physical fitness is most important part of travel and in participating for trek and hiking. If you do not have previous trekking experience as required, you can start with morning walking exercise or cycling for weeks or month before / after booking the trip with us, if you have previous trekking and climbing experience it will add a plus point on the trek chosen, most of the trek is non technical effort walks.

The highest height gain on this trip is at 3,800m above sea level. The walk involves lots of ups and down, walking through local villages, farm lands, terraces and river side as long as you have energy walking for 4- 6 hours a day, and if you are qualified for the trek but still requires moderate health and fitness. We strongly advise travelers to consult your medical doctor before travelling and do regular check up and hand the report to us while booking a trip with us.

Our Experience Trekking Guides and Staff with Safety
Nepal mountainous country walk takes you to remote region, it is necessary that you are accompanied with experienced and qualified guide and leaders for safe journey and making the trip a success. We at Nepal Spirit Adventure employ native trekking guides and porters who are trained and qualified for this type of trip and have worked with us for long time.

Our guide provides with much local information and offering you with advice on how to use your free time and by coordinating day to day events of the tour, although (sometimes) he might need you to understand that if things do not go according to our plan set. Our trek guides are fully trained and licensed from Nepal Government, certify from TAAN and Nepal Mountaineering Association.

All our trekking and climbing guides are well qualified and highly experienced with 9- 10 years on this job. We provide training for our staff yearly on medical and climbing, with their efficiency, and cheerful attitude, providing helps, information and needs of the guests of nationalities.

Assuring that all our trips are well managed by expert team of tourism professional all our guides have good knowledge regarding culture and customs of the routes on trekking and tours, share experience and cultural insights of the country that’s missed out in travel guide books. During your time with us you will have time learning Nepali phrases and other cultural aspects during the journey.

As we organize varied treks in Nepal Himalaya, on group trekking we provide a trek leader with an assistance leader on each trekking depending upon the size of the groups. This ensures safe travel with us as our guide / assistance guides gets any health medical problem, we still have other main guides and leaders to run the trip smooth as per our standard itinerary. To make the trip enjoyable and pleasant we provide one guide to support and carry your bags among two people with one Sherpa helpers in certain conditions.

Caring Porter
Our porter are fully equipped with warm gears and insured on each trips by the company. We take care of our staff / porters welfare as well client’s safeties. We closely work with (PAC) Porters Association International Act. We allow maximum load to be carried by our porter with 20 to 25 KG and make sure that your trekking duffel-kit bag should not be more than 20 KG.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a must and necessary that you are insured when booking trips with Nepal Spirit Adventure. Insurance protections should cover Travel / Medical sufficiently as well emergency and immediate rescue evacuation by any means of transportation including helicopters on medical ground.

As well covering against loss or theft of your belonging and valuables and please make sure the insurance covers all the activities that you will be undertaking your stay in Nepal such as trekking and climbing including others trips and adventure sports. Nepal Spirit Adventure holds no responsibility and liability in case of loss, theft or damage of your belongings.

We also let you know that Nepalese insurance companies does not have travel insurance policy for foreign nationals. They have this policy only for Nepalese national. We advise you when you travel to Nepal please bring your insurance documents.

Re-Charging Batteries of Electronic Items on The Trek
We can recharge your batteries, devices with electricity or solar power sources. In Nepal 220 240 volt 50 MHZ (50 Cycles per Second) power is supplied. Passport & Visa
All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Nepalese visa can be obtained from Nepalese Embassy or consulate in your home country or it can also be obtained at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu upon your arrival.Most of our guests they take Nepal Visa after they arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. High Altitude Sickness
Altitude sickness often known as acute mountain sickness (A.M.S.) in general may occur when people ascend too quickly normally in altitudes of over 3000 m. Most people will feel some effect of altitude, shortness of breath and possibly a light headed, which is fairly common. Acute mountain sickness is very different and normally involves a severe headache, sickness and loss of awareness.

In almost every potential case there are enough warning signs to take appropriate action. When symptoms of altitude sickness develop you, please tell your trekking guide. He will advise you do deal with your problem. Generally over exertion and dehydration contribute to altitude sickness. So drink at least 3-4 liters of water every day besides tea and coffee which act as diuretics.

Autumn (September- October- November)
The autumn is one of the best seasons for trekking in Himalayan region offers excellent weather and outstanding mountain views, the weather is clear and we can guarantee that you can witness fantastic mountain views and panorama. Winter (December-January- February)
In winter snowfall times at higher elevations, the snowline descends considerably, and the weather is cold. So it is an ideal time for trekking at lower elevations below 3,000m in the foot hills of Nepal with great views of the Himalayas, it can get cold at night and in the mornings, but during the day temperatures are mild when it is sunny.

Spring (March-April- May)
The spring is one of the best season for trekking in Nepal Himalaya. Many visitors travel to Nepal in the spring as trekking is fine in all Himalaya regions. The meadows and forest will be in full bloom with riots of colors of wildflowers specially rhododendron the , national flowers of Nepal, comes in great varieties from bush to tall trees. The weather is warmer at lower elevations and at the higher elevations over 4,000m visibility is excellent and temperature is quite moderate.

Summer (June-July- August)
During summer trek is warm and sweaty in the wet summer months, and also constitutes the monsoon season which can continue up to mid-September. Summer is a good time for the keen botanists and forest researchers as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation. It is not generally recommended to trek during the summer season except in the arid rain shadow areas like Upper Mustang, Dolpo and Kailash.

Nepal Himalaya will be in the grip of wet monsoon season starting from mid June to early September months, although morning are often clear for few hours for the views of sunrise and mountains, it can rain heavily almost every day, cloud hangs around by mid morning, with frequent rain and occasional thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening times.
