Bouddanath Stupa

Bouddhanath has a great Stupa, the best place to see in Nepal, Kathmandu Valley. It is situated in the ancient town of Bouddha, about six kilometers northwest of Kathmandu. Bouddhanath Stupa, the biggest stupa in the country, is one of the most celebrated places of pilgrimage. The stupa represents the Mind of the Buddha.

It is believed to have been constructed in the fifth century by King Manadeve. Today, Bouddha has become a thriving center for Dharma (religious duty) practice. Most of the monasteries in the vicinity of Bouddhanath offer meditation and retreats to the visitor. To get an insight into the Buddhist monastic life, it is worth visiting some of the monasteries in Bouddha.
