Adventure Annapurna base camp trip starting with bus ride past many interesting farm villages and towns to reach at famous and scenic Pokhara city with its beautiful valley of pristine Begnas and Phewa Lakes, where Annapurna Himalaya reflects on its calm water surface.

Pokhara is the start and the ending point of many treks and mountaineering adventure, from here our route leads to high hills filled with lovely forest of rhododendron and pine trees, where in spring and summer turning the area into natural magic garden when flowers in full bloom. Walk leads through many farm villages of Tirkhedhunga-Hille-Ulleri to reach at Ghorepani for the hike to famous Poon Hill.

15 Days Annapurna Base Camp trek departs weekly from Kathmandu. Private treks can be arranged any time of the year. If our set departure dates are not convenient for you, you may choose alternate departures dates. Private treks are best suited for couples, families, work colleagues and small groups of friends. Customized itineraries are available as per your travel needs. Further sharing information please kinldy contact your trekking agency at Nepal Spirit Adventure.

We will be staying at 3-star hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhera; Lodge and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Nepal Spirit Adventure will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.

All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast included in Kathmandu. While on trek, we have breakfast and dinner in the tea-houses/lodges we spend the night and lunch on our way to the next destination. Nepalese, Tibetan, the more common continental and Indian cuisines are common choices in the menu.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements
Annapurna Base Camp Trek- 15 days is a moderate trek. Travelers who can walk up to 6-7 hours a day on an uphill and downhill trail will find this trek fulfilling. It is best that we prepare ourselves for the trek by jogging and exercising regularly at least a month prior to the start of the trek. Trekking to the Annapurna base camp trek should be relatively easier for those who have experience walking/trekking in a high altitude environment. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is also important that we consult our doctor. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Nepal Spirit Adventure before booking the trek.

Best Time to Trekking
The best time to trek to the Annapurna base camp trek is Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). The temperature is moderate in these seasons and guarantees amazing views through the trip. Although this trek can be undertaken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.

Day 02 In Kathmandu & trip preparation overnight in hotelToday is completely rest day as per your interesting, you can join with our regular city sightseeing of Kathmandu: After breakfast Tour guide will pick up us at the hotel for guided city tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attraction in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites; including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous “Monkey Temple” (Swoyambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddhanath Stupa) which is one of the large Stupas in the world. In the afternoon we will visit the office for pre trip discussion, where you can meet and introduction our trek leader, other crew and other participants of this trek. Nepal Spirit Adventure will brief you in details about the trek and further provides the opportunity to ask any question we may have regarding our upcoming adventure overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus (8, 20m/2,700ft) 200km 6 hrs drive overnight in hotelAnnapurna base camp and Poon Hill trekking starts with an overland drive on Nepal’s interesting highway to reach Pokhara, journey leads past many farm villages and towns with views of mountains. Drive finally ends on reaching Pokhara and transfer to hotel near beautiful Phewa Lake where most of the nice hotels are located.

Day 04Drive to Nayapul (trek point) trek to Tirkhedhunga 4 hrs walk (1,440m) overnight in lodgeAfter breakfast few hour drive to Nayapul unto Bherethati by the river Modi, from here walk begins through nice villages coming across trekkers, mule and donkey trains, our route leads to farm areas and villages, waterfalls then reaching at Tirkehdhunga for overnight stop in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge after a good day walks of few hours.

Day 05Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,130ft) 6 hrs trek overnight in lodgeMorning starts with steep uphill climb on stone steps for an hour or more to reach on top Ulleri village, moderate size villages with houses in traditional Nepalese style of slated roofs from here walk leads with gradual slow climb into enchanting cool rhododendron and pine forested area to reach at Ghorepani village, located on a ridge surrounded with beautiful rhododendron trees. This village inhabited mostly by Poon people of Magar tribe and famous for Poon Hill view top which is an hour climb.

Day 07Tadapani to Chhomrong (2,170m/7,120ft) 6 hrs trek overnight in lodgeFrom this peaceful place downhill walk into cool forest of rhododendron and pines trees to Kimrong valley. After Kimrong valley an uphill climb for an hour to reach on top of Chomrong village, and then short downhill to main Chomrong village for overnight, this is the last permanent Gurung village and the gateway to Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary trekking.

Day 08Chhomrong to Himalayan hotel (2,840m/9,318ft) overnight in lodgeAfter Chomrong morning walk on short downhill over terraced farm fields and to Chomrong river, after crossing bridge an uphill for an hour to Sinuwa Danda a small place with few lodges offering grand views of surrounding rolling green hills, from here walk into dense forest till Bamboo is reached, located near Modi River. From here an hour walk with gradual up to Dovan with few lodges near Modi River, after a short stop continue walk taking another few hour to reach at Himalaya Hotel for overnight stop, near large Hinko Cave beneath Huinchuli peak.

Day 09Himalayan hotel to MBC (3,700m/12,135ft) 5 hrs trek overnight in lodgeFrom here walk on glacier and moraine around old avalanche area, after crossing a small bridge near Deurali before Machhapuchare Base Camp is reached. After Deurali tree lines disappears with only high alpine bushes and shrubs, our route climbs following Modi river upstream, walk gets pleasant for an hour and with steep up to reach at Machhapuchare Base Camp for overnight. This place with few lodges located on the bottom of Mt. Machhapuchare North Face, from here onward starts Annapurna Sanctuary area.

Day 10MBC to ABC-Annapurna base camp (4,130m/13,549ft) 3 hrs trek overnight in lodgeAfter a wonderful morning overlooking views of Annapurna mountain range, from here a short walk to the base camp, morning walk on the grassy uphill slopes then reaching higher almost level ground near Annapurna Base Camp, morning walk with stunning views of close Annapurna peaks that circles the sanctuary facing Annapurna I. After a good scenic walk reaching at Annapurna Base Camp a magnificent spot with about three large lodges at present, offering tremendous awesome scenery of snow capped peaks that encircles around this lovely spot at base camp, afternoon at leisure to enjoy the mountain views. Annapurna area was first explored by the British Adventure Col. James O.M. 'Jimmy' Roberts in the year 1956 and exposed to the world as the 'Sanctuary of Gods'. The Sanctuary has been christened as "Annapurna Sanctuary" ever since.

Day 11ABC to Bamboo (2,310m/7,578ft) 6 hrs trek overnight in lodgeAfter a grand time at Annapurna base camp around spectacular Sanctuary, morning walk downhill all the way to Deurali, with few ups and downs on winding trail then back into forest reaching at Bamboo for overnight stop.

Day 12Bamboo to Jhinu Dada (1,760m/5,774ft) 5 hrs trek overnight in lodgeFrom here a short steep up to Khuldi Ghar, then downhill to Sinuwa danda, from here walk descends to Chomrong khola. After the bridge an uphill walk for less than an hour reaching at Chomrong village for rest stop or lunch, after Chomrong with another up for half hour to the top of Chomrong ridge, then our route descends to Jhinu danda, for overnight stay, this place offers refreshing hot springs just 20 minutes walk downhill near Modi River.

Day 13Trek to Nayapul 5 hrs walk then 2 hrs drive to Pokhara overnight in lodgeAfter a refreshing time at Jhinu downhill for an hour to Modi River with gradual walk and short climb to reach at the bottom of Gandruk and Landruk village. From here continue walk on long winding trail through terraced farm fields and villages reaching cool forested area to reach back at Bhirethati and Nayapul after following Modi River downstream. After a short stop, on the road head connecting Baglung and Pokhara, from here drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high mountains.

Trip Map

Upon Arrival in Nepal:

On arrival in Nepal at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport, our airport representative or staff will receive you with warm welcome with garland / Khada (Buddhist ceremonial silk scarf) and then transfer to your respective hotels.

Afternoon or evening time we will review and discus with much information regarding your trip itinerary and included / excluded services as per the trip itinerary chosen, at the same time introduce your guide who will help you with final preparation for your trek.

Accommodation in Kathmandu:

We provide twin sharing tourist standard hotels in Kathmandu, Pokhara with accommodation based on twin sharing basis with breakfast. If you are trekking in groups joining basis, you will share a room with someone of the same gender from your group. If you prefer a single room supplement in Kathmandu and on-route trekking, you can request for single supplement (which will be at extra cost beside trip price stated).

A Typical Tea House (Lodge) Trekking Day:

A typical trekking day means walking from morning to late afternoon. Each morning after packing your bags and then having a good breakfast, we will set off for day walks to our next designated overnights stop.

We suggest that you carry a small day pack to put your water bottles, sun screen cream, hats, raincoat, camera and warm jumper just in case if the weather changes to cold, while rest of your belonging that you don’t need for the day goes in large duffel / kit bags for porters to carry.

The walk will last for 3 to 4 hours in the morning until lunch at midday. We stop for one hour to have lunch and rest before heading to our overnight destination in the comfort of tea house / lodge at villages. At the end of the day after checking in the lodge, rest (read books, write your diary) or explore the village.

After lunch you will be walking for 3 to 4 hours, normally reaching at overnight stop around three to four PM. Our guide will provide you with the best accommodation available in Tea houses and lodge. Some days completing day walks by lunch time at designated overnights stops, where you will be free after lunch in the afternoon. After tea and coffee break one can spend time exploring around village or just relax and do some washing the laundry.

The dinner will be served around 6 to 7 P.M. the dining room (Restaurant) inside the tea house / lodge. For dinner as per the menu or recommended by your guide must be ordered one hour in advance. After dinner evening will be spent often playing cards or discussing the day’s topic and events or writing diary if are habitual of it before heading off to bed for good sound sleep.

Accommodation During Trekking:

In Everest, Annapurna and Langtang trekking region we provide accommodation in tea house (mountain lodge). A Tea House is a combination of guest house, restaurant, and social hang out. The rooms are with twin beds and little additional furniture like small tables or chairs. Blankets are generally provided (we recommend that you carry your own sleeping bags). Most bathrooms are common with squatting (Asian) toilets or of western comfort with sitting toilets. Most Tea Houses / Lodge have running water facilities. Most of the lodges have hot water for showers, but with extra charge in using hot showers.

Meals During Trekking:

During trekking session full board meals are included (breakfast, Lunch and dinner as well as tea or coffee provided). We provide food from these local lodge / tea house as per choices in menu. Breakfast and dinner provided at the same tea house / lodge while lunch would be on the trail.

Every Tea House serves traditional Nepali meal Dal Bhat (rice and lentils), and as well variety of different food items, such as rice, seasonable vegetables, noodles, potatoes and soups.

Some lodge serves western foods such as pizza, pasta and French fries. Soft drinks, snacks and beer are available in most of the Tea Houses restaurants. A variety of cereals, bread and eggs dishes are generally available for breakfast.

Safe Drinking Water in Trekking:

Safe drinking water is very important while we are on trek and we recommend that one should drink at least 3-4 litters water a day (this helps from de-hydration and altitude problem AMS).

We provide boiled and filtered clean water and adding purification pills in our entire trip package. Beside this, if you wish to drink sealed packed mineral and boiled water you can buy en route at extra cost.

Health and Fitness Required:

Health and physical fitness is most important part of travel and in participating for trek and hiking. If you do not have previous trekking experience as required, you can start with morning walking exercise or cycling for weeks or month before / after booking the trip with us, if you have previous trekking and climbing experience it will add a plus point on the trek chosen, most of the trek is non technical effort walks.

The highest height gain on this trip is at 5,545m above sea level. The walk involves lots of ups and down, walking through local villages, farm lands, terraces and river side as long as you have energy walking for 4- 6 hours a day, and if you are qualified for the trek but still requires moderate health and fitness.

We strongly advise travelers to consult your medical doctor before travelling and do regular check up and hand the report to us while booking a trip with us.

Nepal mountainous country walk takes you to remote region, it is necessary that you are accompanied with experienced and qualified guide and leaders for safe journey and making the trip a success. We at Nepal Spirit Adventure employ native trekking guides and porters who are trained and qualified for this type of trip and have worked with us for long time.

Our guide provides with much local information and offering you with advice on how to use your free time and by coordinating day to day events of the tour, although (sometimes) he might need you to understand that if things do not go according to our plan set. Our trek guides are fully trained and licensed from Nepal Government, certify from TAAN and Nepal Mountaineering Association.

All our trekking and climbing guides are well qualified and highly experienced with 9- 10 years on this job. We provide training for our staff yearly on medical and climbing, with their efficiency, and cheerful attitude, providing helps, information and needs of the guests of nationalities.

Assuring that all our trips are well managed by expert team of tourism professional all our guides have good knowledge regarding culture and customs of the routes on trekking and tours, share experience and cultural insights of the country that’s missed out in travel guide books. During your time with us you will have time learning Nepali phrases and other cultural aspects during the journey.

As we organize varied treks in Nepal Himalaya, on group trekking we provide a trek leader with an assistance leader on each trekking depending upon the size of the groups.

This ensures safe travel with us as our guide / assistance guides gets any health medical problem, we still have other main guides and leaders to run the trip smooth as per our standard itinerary.

To make the trip enjoyable and pleasant we provide one guide to support and carry your bags among two people with one Sherpa helpers in certain conditions.

Caring Porter:

Our porter are fully equipped with warm gears and insured on each trips by the company. We take care of our staff / porters welfare as well client’s safeties.
We closely work with (PAC) Porters Association International Act. We allow maximum load to be carried by our porter with 20 to 25 KG and make sure that your trekking duffel-kit bag should not be more than 20 KG.

Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance is a must and necessary that you are insured when booking trips with Nepal Spirit Adventure. Insurance protections should cover Travel / Medical sufficiently as well emergency and immediate rescue evacuation by any means of transportation including helicopters on medical ground.

As well covering against loss or theft of your belonging and valuables and please make sure the insurance covers all the activities that you will be undertaking your stay in Nepal such as trekking and climbing including others trips and adventure sports.

Nepal Spirit Adventure holds no responsibility and liability in case of loss, theft or damage of your belongings. We also let you know that Nepalese insurance companies does not have travel insurance policy for foreign nationals. They have this policy only for Nepalese national. We advise you when you travel to Nepal please bring your insurance documents.

Re-Charging Batteries of Electronic Items on The Trek:

We can recharge your batteries, devices with electricity or solar power sources. In Nepal 220 240 volt 50 MHZ (50 Cycles per Second) power is supplied. Just need to have a plug adaptor in case of socket fitting, which you can buy in Kathmandu before the trip since the plugs in Nepal might be different. You might have to pay small amount fee/hour for using recharging facilities.

Passport and Visa:

All foreign nationals, except Indian citizens, need visas to enter Nepal. Nepalese visa can be obtained from Nepalese Embassy or consulate in your home country or it can also be obtained at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu upon your arrival. Most of our guests they take Nepal Visa after they arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. To get Nepalese visa you should bring valid passport and two passport size photos. High Altitude Sickness:

Altitude sickness often known as acute mountain sickness (A.M.S.) in general may occur when people ascend too quickly normally in altitudes of over 3000 m. Most people will feel some effect of altitude, shortness of breath and possibly a light headed, which is fairly common. Acute mountain sickness is very different and normally involves a severe headache, sickness and loss of awareness. In almost every potential case there are enough warning signs to take appropriate action. When symptoms of altitude sickness develop you, please tell your trekking guide. He will advise you do deal with your problem. Generally over exertion and dehydration contribute to altitude sickness. So drink at least 3-4 liters of water every day besides tea and coffee which act as diuretics.

Autumn (September- October- November):

Winter (December-January- February):

In winter snowfall times at higher elevations, the snowline descends considerably, and the weather is cold. So it is an ideal time for trekking at lower elevations below 3,000m in the foot hills of Nepal with great views of the Himalayas, it can get cold at night and in the mornings, but during the day temperatures are mild when it is sunny.

Spring (March-April- May):

The spring is one of the best season for trekking in Nepal Himalaya. Many visitors travel to Nepal in the spring as trekking is fine in all Himalaya regions. The meadows and forest will be in full bloom with riots of colors of wildflowers specially rhododendron the , national flowers of Nepal, comes in great varieties from bush to tall trees. The weather is warmer at lower elevations and at the higher elevations over 4,000m visibility is excellent and temperature is quite moderate.

Summer (June-July- August):

During summer trek is warm and sweaty in the wet summer months, and also constitutes the monsoon season which can continue up to mid-September. Summer is a good time for the keen botanists and forest researchers as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation. It is not generally recommended to trek during the summer season except in the arid rain shadow areas like Upper Mustang, Dolpo and Kailash.

Nepal Himalaya will be in the grip of wet monsoon season starting from mid June to early September months, although morning are often clear for few hours for the views of sunrise and mountains, it can rain heavily almost every day, cloud hangs around by mid morning, with frequent rain and occasional thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening times.
